Ronald G. Nahass, MD, FACP, FIDSA
Ronald G. Nahass, MD, FACP, FIDSA, was born and raised
in New Jersey. After graduating cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute in 1979, he earned his medical degree at the University
of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – The Robert Wood
Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) in 1982. He completed an internal
medicine residency at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
(RWJUH) in 1985 and was selected Chief Medical Resident the following
year. Upon the completion of his infectious diseases fellowship
at RWJUH in 1988, Dr. Nahass joined the faculty of RWJMS. He began
private practice of infectious diseases in January 1990. Dr. Nahass
was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1985 and Infectious
Diseases in 1988. He received special certification by the American
Academy of HIV medicine as an HIV specialist in 2004. He completed
the Advanced Special Certification in Hepatitis B in 2006.
He is a past President of the Medical Staff and is
the Hospital Epidemiologist at Somerset Medical Center. He is a
Clinical Professor of Medicine at the RWJMS. He is an attending
physician at Somerset Medical Center, Saint Peter’s University
Hospital, RWJUH, the University Medical Center at Princeton, and
Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Nahass was elected a Fellow of the American College
of Physicians, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the
Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. He is also a member
of the International Society of Travel Medicine, the American Medical
Association, the Medical Society of New Jersey, the NJ Infectious
Diseases Society, and the International AIDS Society. He has been
awarded the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition
Award for Continuing Medical Education with a special commendation
for self directed learning.
He was named “Top Doctor in NJ” by New
Jersey Monthly magazine in 1996, 2003, 2005, and 2006 and by the
Castle, Connolly, Guide to Medical Professionals annually since
1997. He was also named one of the “Best Doctors in America”
for 2001-2007 by Best Doctors. He is a frequent lecturer on various
infectious disease topics including HIV, hepatitis, bioterrorism,
and sexually transmitted diseases. He has extensive clinical research
experience in HIV and AIDS.
