John Richard Middleton, MD, MACP, FIDSA
John Richard Middleton, MD, MACP, FIDSA, is a native of South Orange, New Jersey, where he currently lives. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the College of the Holy Cross; his Doctor of Medicine from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School; and a Certificate of Medical Humanities at Drew University. He earned the rank of Major, United States Air Force, stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas.
Dr. Middleton completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Cornell Cooperating Hospitals; his residency in Internal Medicine at Cornell Cooperating Hospitals, North Shore University Hospital, Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Affiliated Diseases, and The New York Hospital, Cornell University Medical College. He completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases with Dr. Donald B. Louria, MD, UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.
Dr. Middleton is board certified as Diplomate, American Board of Internal Medicine and Diplomate, Subspecialty Board of Infectious Diseases. He is a consulting physician in Infectious Diseases at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He is a former Chief of Medicine and Chief Medical Officer of Raritan Bay Medical Center.
Dr. Middleton is a Master of the American College of Physicians. He was elected ACP Governor for New Jersey (1988-1992) and has been Course Director and Faculty Instructor: Infectious Disease Section, for the annual NJ ACP Internal Medicine Board Review Course since 1993. He received the Evergreen and Laureate Awards from the American College of Physicians. He was appointed by the Governor of the State of New Jersey to serve on the Medical Emergency and Disaster Prevention and Response Expert Panel in September of 2001.
Dr. Middleton currently serves as Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Raritan Bay Medical Center; Subspecialty Education Coordinator for Infectious Diseases; and Clinical Professor of Medicine at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
